Bursaries By Study Field : Agriculture

In celebration of a number of Agbiz members who celebrated their 100 years existence, an annual Agribusiness Centenary Bursary Fund was established. As the primary objective of the bursary is to promote Masters, or PhD level research in agribusiness related fields. Agbiz certainly is proud to be associated with and supporting the set research of Agribusiness Centenary Bursary holders.

Bursaries tenable at Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Short Courses offers opportunities for short-term post-graduate training delivered in Australia and/or in Africa for up to three months. The training targets experienced employees from African public, private and non-government organisations (civil society) in the following fields: Agriculture, Extractives and Public Policy.

The Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships and fellowships funded by the Australian Government that aim to contribute to the long term development needs of Australia’s partner countries, in line with bilateral and regional agreements. Course Level: Scholarships are available to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions. Study programs must relate to applicants country’s priority areas for development. These are listed on the participating country profiles.

Hortgro focus on production, research and technology, markets, and transformation within the deciduous fruit industry.

To assist students wishing to pursue a career in the Subtropical fruit industry in South Africa. To this end, financial assistance will be provided to students studying towards a BSc (Agric) degree, preferably majoring in Horticultural Science or Agricultural Economics.

The SASCP annually awards two bursaries of R10 000.00 (ten thousand Rand) to deserving students who study full-time in the broad area of Crop Production (Agronomy / Crop Science) at a South African University. Applicants are invited to download and complete the application form and submit it, together with the supporting documents listed under Conditions, to the SASCP Secretariat. Applications close on 15 March annually.

The Santam bursary is available to young talented individuals who will be in their second, third or final year undergraduate, or Honours next year. Students must studying in fields such as actuarial science, agriculture, underwriting, hydraulics and insurance assessment and must be keen on pursuing a career in the short-term insurance industry.

The Sishen Iron Ore Company-Community Development Trust (SIOC-cdt) was formed by Kumba Iron Ore Limited, in order to invest in developing the communities within which the company operates. The SIOC-cdt has provided over 550 bursaries to deserving underprivileged students in its beneficiary communities, to complete their studies higher education institutions across the country.

Globeleq South Africa is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Globeleq, an experienced international operating power company, and power industry leader in the emerging markets. Established in 2002, Globeleq actively develops energy projects in Africa by developing the electric power sectors in these regions. This focus stream is being offered to students in the Northern and Eastern Cape, wishing to pursue degrees or certificates in education, agriculture or nursing. Those applying should currently reside within a 50km radius from Aries Solar Power, Boshof Solar Power, De Aar Solar Power, Droogfontein Solar Power, Jeffrey's Bay Wind Farm, Klipheuwel Wind Farm, Konkoonsies Solar Power, and Soutpan Solar Power.

Globeleq is a leading operating power company focusing on powering Africa’s growth, Globeleq recruits highly skilled, innovative and dedicated people who have a wide range of skills, knowledge and expertise in the power sector. This scholarship is being offered to students in the Northern and Eastern Cape, wishing to pursue degrees or certificates in education, agriculture or nursing.

The National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) invites learners wanting to study towards a career in agriculture.

The Imfundo Trust Scholarships provide funding to study on a full-time basis for undergraduate and selected postgraduate degree programmes at selected universities in South Africa.

The South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA) makes bursaries available to ensure that appropriately trained graduates of colour enter the South African avocado industry to enable continued growth of the sector.

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) intends to award comprehensive bursaries to qualifying applicants pursuing and/or intending to further their studies in critical scarce skills in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors. The bursary will cover tuition, accommodation, books, meals and monthly allowance. The bursary awards target the previously disadvantaged and impoverished persons from poverty-stricken and rural communities. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

The IDC provide finance for industrial development projects by promoting partnerships across industries within and outside our borders, promoting regional economic growth. The IDC provide bursaries to students who qualify for admission to a University or University of Technology or who are currently studying at a University or University of Technology.

Students are invited to apply for bursaries to further their studies from the Maize Trust. The most important conditions of the bursaries are as follows: Students must be South African citizens and busy with fulltime study. The bursaries are only for Masters and Doctoral studies. The field of study must be relevant to the South African maize industry. The topic for the thesis must be approved by the Maize Trust.

This scholarship is co-financed by the European Union for students interested in studying a Masters degree in Horticulture or Agriculture Poland. The programme will be offered in English. To qualify for this opportunity you will need a minimum of a BSc Horticulture or BSc Agriculture. This scholarship attracts foreign students who will also be provided with classes in a summer school that will prepare them to continue their education or take up a job in Poland.
