Bursaries By Study Field : Mine Surveying

The MQA bursary scheme was established to increase the number of learners taking careers in the mining and minerals sector. The bursary will be awarded to students enrolled in careers identified in the scarce and critical skills list, particularly in core mining related disciplines.

The SASOL University of Technology bursary is awarded to high achieving matrics wanting to attend a University of technology to study in the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Mine Surveying; Industrial Engineering and Power (Electrical Engineering and Process Instrumentation).

The SAGW offers bursaries for students registering or registered to study a B.Sc in Surveying /Geomatics, B.Tech Surveying / Mine Surveying / Geomatics, or Diploma in Surveying / Mine Surveying or GIS. All qualified Professional Surveyors, Technologist Surveyors, Technician Surveyors and GISc Practitioners have to be registered with the Council.

The SAGI is a voluntary organization for registered persons working in land surveying, engineering surveying, town planning, photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographical information systems (GIS) & land management. The SAGI offers various bursaries for students to study at University or Universities of Technology studying towards Professional Land Surveyor or Engineering Surveyor, also diploma or degree is Geospatial Information Science. South Deep Education Trust bursaries are focused on creating educational opportunities for youth in Westonaria, where the company’s South Deep mine is based. All applications should be emailed to, admin@sdeducationtrust.co.za as one attachement. This Grant is open to Historically Disadvantaged Individuals from low-income households in the communities surrounding the South Deep Mine and/or the Labour Sending Areas. The Grant is open to students in their first three years of tertiary study (unless the trustees deem a particular case exceptional and decide in their discretion to award an Educational Grant to a post-graduate student.

The aim of Mintek’s Undergraduate Bursary Programme is primarily to ensure a steady supply of trained and highly skilled technical people to meet a major portion of Mintek’s operational, research, and development manpower intake needs, and also to provide appropriately-skilled graduates to the broader South African minerals and metallurgy sector. Mintek provides bursaries for undergraduate degrees, Honours degrees and BTech diplomas.

Following on our theme of learning and development of our employees and community, the Group designed a bursary scheme to provide full-time bursaries to 10 students.Candidates are sourced from our local communities, with the intention of offering them job opportunities to fill the scarce skills vacancies within Barber ton Mines on completion of their studies.
