Bursary Awards are made by the AIBROF Committee who selects recipients based on academic merit and financial need.

The Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust is offering the full scholarship to pursue postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. These scholarships are awarded for a maximum of two years for postgraduate study (Masters degree (or equivalent) or PhD) in the United Kingdom at a university of the student’s choice.

The CHIETA has established a bursary Programme to offer financial assistance to young South Africans who qualify to undertake full-time studies at any accredited South African Public Tertiary Institution. The bursary will cover tuition fees as determined through the institutions statement of account up to the maximum capped amount of R45 000.00 for Under-graduates and R60 000.00 for Post-graduates per annum. If there is a balance available then books and other expenses can be covered based on proof of expenditure up to the CHIETA’s maximum capped amount.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is pleased to offer scholarships for citizens of all Commonwealth countries to study in member countries. Scholarships are available for masters degree programmes in any subject at participating universities. Scholarships are offered by a number of particpating Commonwealth countries. The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is the world’s first and oldest international university network, established in 1913.

The Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) aims to recruit candidates that would ordinarily be overlooked by other bursary programmes, which may only seek out top academic achievers. This is a bursary scheme that considers the holistic needs of selected student as well as their potential, and with support, nurturing and mentoring, will rise above their circumstances to become future leaders. We also look for real leadership capability in our candidates and expect a demonstrable ingrained ethos of community service and a commitment to “paying it forward”.

UNHCR’s higher education scholarship programme, best known by its acronym DAFI, plays an integral role in enabling refugees worldwide to access higher education. Since its inception in 1992, the DAFI programme has grown considerably, enabling more than 13,500 refugee students to study at universities and colleges in 50 countries of asylum.

The International Undergraduate Scholarship is offered to international students from selected countries who are applying for a bachelor degree at ECU. The scholarship offers a 20% (percent) reduction in your tuition fees for the duration of your course at ECU. The scholarships are open to prospective international students seeking to study a bachelor degree. Equity and Merit Scholarships assist talented but economically disadvantaged students from some of the world’s poorest countries. We offer two types of scholarship: Full-time, on-campus master’s (one year duration) Part-time distance learning master’s (three to five years' duration). There are 28 scholarships (18 for full-time study and 10 for part-time study) available to students from Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Tanzania. The scholarships cover full tuition fees, and for students who will be studying in Manchester, the award includes return international air fares, living expenses and visas.

The Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar Program is an opportunity for South African university faculty or research institute professionals to conduct research in their field of expertise at a U.S. academic or research Institution for a period of 3 to 9 months. A research grant enables the scholar to perform high-level research at a U.S. educational institution, aimed at strengthening academic programs or curricula at his/her home institution. Applicants need to have a proven track record of productive scholarly research, and publications.

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for Masters and Doctoral students, provides outstanding students with the opportunity to direct their own research at the early-career stage, working with a supervisor, in their chosen area of interest. Pioneering proposals addressing new and emerging fields of research or those introducing creative, innovative approaches are welcomed. The Council makes an investment in 200 new postgraduate scholars under the Government of Ireland Postgraduate programme each year.

The HCI Foundation has identified a number of areas in which it aims to make lasting and significant contributions to our society, and to this end supports education at all levels, youth development and empowerment, and sustainable projects which protect the environment.The HCI Foundation provides opportunities for education to employees of subsidiaries and associates of the HCI group, in particular through access to tertiary level education for dependents of company employees via the Foundation’s Bursary Programme.

The ABE Initiative aims at fostering leaders with proven ability to contribute towards Africa's development in collaboration with the Japanese private sector. JICA is looking for prominent young South African nationals who are or anticipating to be involved in industrial development activities in both public and private sectors, and who have strong motivation to strengthen economic ties between South Africa and Japan. Young or mid-career human resources who are contributing towards addressing challenges faced in various fields through strengthening the collaboration between Africa and Japan, and through the implementation of political strategic decision-making and implementation. Prospective applicants should ideally be middle-management government officials or academics who wish to be involved in policy formulation, political and development issues, and who are passionate about making a difference in public policy administration and economics.

The MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to study at Japanese universities under the Japanese Government Scholarship Program. The MEXT Scholarship scholarship is for research students, undergraduate students, specialized training college students as well as for teacher training.

For Mandela Rhodes Scholar alumni who are interested in applying to the Foundation to be recommended for a Leverhulme Mandela Rhodes Doctoral Scholarship to the United Kingdom. The new Leverhulme Mandela Rhodes Scholarships programme invites the MRF, after a rigorous selection process culminating in final interviews, to recommend two Mandela Rhodes alumni to our partners The Leverhulme Trust in London. The Leverhulme Trust will then, according to terms agreed with the recommended candidates, assume financial responsibility for doctoral study at a recognised UK institution of higher learning.

The Mandela Rhodes Scholarships aim to help in building leadership excellence in Africa. A Mandela Rhodes Scholarship is more than a bursary, though the costs of Scholars are generously covered during their period of study. The Mandela Rhodes Foundation offers young Africans who exhibit academic prowess as well as broader leadership potential an educational opportunity unique on the continent. While pursuing their chosen post-graduate degree, each Scholar benefits from access to leadership development programmes, rooted in the principles underpinning the Foundation.

The Namibia Students Financial assistance Fund (NSFAF) core function is to provide financial assistance, to students, in order: to enable them to study or to do research; and more specifically, but without limiting the foregoing, to facilitate the training of students in prescribed courses or fields of study at approved tertiary institutions. The funding is in the form of a loan and not a bursary. Application forms become available on the portal in August of each year, and also at H/IGCSE schools, regional education offices of the Ministry of Education and at the NSFAF office and other institutions of Higher Education. For that you must register on the NSFAF portal and fulfill all the information needed for the application form. Also student has the possibility to set an appointment with the Regional Officer, if he need assistance.

NSFAS is a government entity under the Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology established according to the NSFAS Act (Act 56 of 1999) to provide financial support to disadvantaged students who wish to further their studies at public universities or TVET colleges.

New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships are prestigious scholarships that recognise New Zealand’s history and ties to the Commonwealth. Our Commonwealth Scholarships are part of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) - an international programme under which Commonwealth countries offer scholarships and fellowships to citizens of other Commonwealth states. NZ Commonwealth Scholarships are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme, the New Zealand Government’s overseas aid and development programme. They are managed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides loans and gives various NSFAS bursaries to students at all 25 of our public universities, as well as the 50 public TVET colleges. Instead of having to repay the monetary value as with loans, bursars who apply for a NSFAS bursary will enter into a contract to work in a specific sector in South Africa for a specified amount of time after their graduation.

The Scholarship for a World Programme is a partial scholarship aimed at students from Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America who are interested in development policy and who have come to Austria to study on their own initiative. Prospective awardees are required to focus on questions related to development in their studies and research.

The Rural Education Access Programme (REAP) assists students from poor rural areas across all 9 provinces of South Africa to access and succeed in tertiary education. REAP provides information, resources and referrals to Grade 11 & 12 learners in rural schools. REAP has network of volunteers and youth focused community or non-governmental organisations who identify financially challenged rural students and assist with career guidance, application & selection processes.

The Rhodes Scholarships for Southern Africa (inc. South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland). The Scholarships for these countries are administered from a regional secretariat based in Johannesburg. There are: four Scholarships every year for applicants from South Africa-at-Large, one for applicants from KwaZulu-Natal, one for an applicant from one of: Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland, and one each for applicants of or from Diocesan College, Rondebosch; South African College School, Newlands; Paul Roos Gymnasium, Stellenbosch; and St Andrew's College, Makhanda (including their identified partner schools, which are listed here).

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) is a youth development agency aimed at creating and promoting co-ordination in youth development matters. To address the challenges of youth unemployment, access to education and shortage of scarce skills the NYDA is offering scholarships to youth between the ages of 14-35 to give them an opportunity to study a public universities or universities of technology across South Africa. The Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship Fund (SMSF) was established to provide financial support to youth to enable them to pursue quality education in an institution of higher learning with youth in rural areas as primary target. The scholarship was established in honour of Solomon Kalushi Mahlangu who at the age of 23, was executed under the apartheid laws after being wrongfully accused of murder and terrorism.

The University of the Freestate are inviting bright sparks in Grade 12 to enter the Star of Stars Competition. Entries are evaluated in three categories, i.e., academic performance, leadership achievements, and community involvement. Ten finalists are selected after a rigorous judging and evaluation process. The Star of Stars Competition acknowledges top achievers in Quintile 1, 2, and 3 schools in the Free State Province.

The University welcomes applications for the Vice Chancellor's International Excellence Scholarship from international students who are new to studying at the University of Waikato, and who will be coming to study here for face-to-face study in 2023.

The Compensation Fund is offering bursaries to youth, dependents of Compensation Fund pensioners and current Compensation Fund pensioners, intending to pursue the following identified critical skills in fields listed on website below.
