Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic

An Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft to ensure they are safe for flight. They inspect, diagnose, and repair aircraft systems and components, including engines, landing gear, brakes, electrical systems, and avionics. They are responsible for following maintenance schedules, keeping accurate records, and ensuring that all repairs are completed in compliance with aviation regulations.


Tasks:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on aircraft.
  • Inspect aircraft for defects or damage.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft systems and components.
  • Replace or repair faulty parts and systems.
  • Test systems and components to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Follow maintenance schedules and keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure that all repairs are completed in compliance with aviation regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

How to Enter

  • A minimum of a National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited aircraft maintenance program.
  • A valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license issued by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
