The Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships and fellowships funded by the Australian Government that aim to contribute to the long term development needs of Australia’s partner countries, in line with bilateral and regional agreements. Course Level: Scholarships are available to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions. Study programs must relate to applicants country’s priority areas for development. These are listed on the participating country profiles.

The Department of Arts and Culture is inviting applicants who have not participated in any Internship programme and currently unemployed and should not have had previous formal employment related to their field of study. The National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC) is a development finance institution that funds and facilitates the development of affordable housing for the benefit of the low- and middle-income South African households. The Road Traffic Infringement Agency offers learnership opportunities to unemployed young South Africans and applicants who must meet the following criteria: Must be currently unemployed; • Must have never participated in any learnership or internship programme; • Must have a grade 12 certificate with a minimum of a symbol C in English and Mathematics / Mathematical Literacy; • Must be a South African citizen and be between 18 and 35 years of age; and • Must be willing to enter into a 12-month uninterrupted learnership contract.

The Santam bursary is available to young talented individuals who will be in their second, third or final year undergraduate, or Honours next year. Students must studying in fields such as actuarial science, agriculture, underwriting, hydraulics and insurance assessment and must be keen on pursuing a career in the short-term insurance industry.

The South African Reserve Bank (the Bank) provides bursaries to students in relevant fields of study who are from disadvantaged backgrounds. These bursaries are made available annually to needy qualifying Grade 12 pupils to embark on full-time studies. These includes, for example; Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Mathematical Statistics, Information Technology, Finance, Law and Accounting, but also includes for example, Medicine, Dentistry and Social Work. A bursary will be granted from the first academic year and reviewed annually. Bursary holders need not reapply for the bursary each year. The Bank will provide students who are Bank bursary holders, vacation work opportunities that are funded by the Bank.
