Investec offers full-cost bursaries to students who are currently in Gr 12 or their first year of tertiary study aiming to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a Commercial LLB, as well as Medicine (MBCHB). These degrees represent fields of relevance to the financial services sector. Bursaries are awarded based on merit and financial need for studies at select South African universities.

PwC offers a variety of funding opportunities, and bursaries are awarded to students with an outstanding academic track record at school and/or university. Bursaries are awarded on condition that when you complete your studies successfully, you will be required to complete a training contract with PwC, gaining hands-on experience in the business.

The Santam bursary is available to young talented individuals who will be in their second, third or final year undergraduate, or Honours next year. Students must studying in fields such as actuarial science, agriculture, underwriting, hydraulics and insurance assessment and must be keen on pursuing a career in the short-term insurance industry.

Sasol offers young, prospective CA’s the opportunity to take advantage of a fully comprehensive bursary whilst studying towards the BCom Hons/CTA qualification. The CA Training (CAT) Programme in Transnet is a strategic intervention to train prospective Chartered Accountants to meet the skills requirements of South Africa in the Accountancy field. The CAT Programme at Transnet is a three year learnership programme for candidates who have a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) / B Compt Hons or equivalent. Trainees receive extensive training in Financial Management, Management Decision-Making, Financial Accounting, Internal Audit & Corporate Governance, Auditing & Assurance and Taxation. This also includes the professional skills like interpersonal & communication skills, intellectual skills, personal skills, and organizational & management skills. In Transnet, the trainees will be rotated to the head office and several of its business units, e.g. Transnet National Ports Authority, Transnet Pipelines, Transnet Freight Rail, etc. The rotation will be tailored to meet the needs of the trainee and the respective business unit, with the trainee spending at least one-third of the practical training in one business. The training programme matches the depth of the SAICA syllabus requirements with a wide business exposure.
